Introduction
Chianti is the basic red wine typology of the Chianti DOCG, produced without a territorial subzone or additional designation. It is based on Sangiovese, which must account for 60โ100% of the blend, while other grape varieties permitted for cultivation in Tuscany may be included within the prescribed limits.
Description of Chianti DOCG
The wine is characterized by a lively ruby-red colour, tending towards garnet with ageing, an intense aroma that may include violet notes, and a dry, savoury and slightly tannic palate, which becomes softer and more velvety with maturation. When the traditional governo allโuso Toscano technique is used, the wine may acquire greater liveliness and roundness.
Production method for Chianti DOCG
